For 76 years, the Palestinian people have endured the harsh realities of brutal Israeli occupation, relentless settler-colonialism, and the indignities of an apartheid state.
Their struggle for self-determination and justice has been a poignant narrative of perseverance in the face of adversity. As the world bears witness to their plight, it is imperative that nations, including Pakistan, stand in solidarity with Palestine and advocate for a just and lasting solution to the conflict.
The implementation of UN Security Council resolutions #43, #46, and #48 in 1948 concerning Palestine must be respected and acted upon. These resolutions hold the key to bringing about a comprehensive and lasting peace in the region. Meanwhile, the UN Security Council must exercise its moral responsibility by urgently calling for a ceasefire to halt the bloodshed of Palestinian civilians.
Quaid-i-Azam, on November 8, 1945, articulated a vision that resonates with the principles of justice and self-determination. He asserted, “The Muslims of India would not remain mere spectators. They would help the Arabs in Palestine by all possible means.”
This commitment to supporting the oppressed has been ingrained in the Pakistani nation’s ethos since its inception.
The Pakistani people have remained emotionally connected to the Palestinian cause, and their unwavering support has been a beacon of hope for the Palestinian nation. The recent atrocities committed against innocent Palestinian men, women, and children by the Israeli forces have left the Pakistani nation in a state of deep distress and anger.
Across the streets of Pakistan, thousands of men, women, and children have marched, displaying their heartfelt solidarity with the Palestinian people. These demonstrations are a testament to the profound empathy and shared humanity that binds the Pakistani and Palestinian nations.
Pakistan has consistently championed the creation of an independent Palestinian state and advocates a two-state solution as the path to enduring peace in the Middle East. The systematic repression of Palestinians by the Israeli government has drawn Pakistan’s concern and condemnation.
This commitment to the Palestinian cause is not merely a matter of rhetoric; Pakistan has taken a lead in providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, recognizing the urgency of their plight.
The Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan recently reaffirmed the unshakable solidarity of the Pakistani nation with the Palestinian people.
He declared, “The Palestinian people have unequivocal diplomatic, moral, and political support from the Pakistani nation. We will continue to uphold our brethren’s principled stance for a lasting resolution of the Palestinian issue and an end to the unlawful occupation of their territories and sacred places.”
The people of Pakistan will continue to advocate for the Palestinians’ right to self-determination and demand that the international community intervene immediately to prevent further loss of precious lives. As the world watches the ongoing tragedy in Palestine, it is time for nations to join hands in support of the Palestinian cause, ensuring that their struggle for justice and freedom is met with the respect and resolution it deserves.
